Christoph Heinze

University of Bergen, Norway

Christoph Heinze is a biogeochemical ocean modeller with 30 years experience in this field. He received his PhD from the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology and the University of Hamburg (Klaus Hasselmann, Ernst Maier-Reimer, Hartmut Graßl). His research interests include feedbacks between climate and biogeochemical cycles, the simulation of the marine sedimentary paleo-climate archive, and the quantification of the global carbon and silicon cycles. He coordinated the European projects CARBOOCEAN and CARBOCHANGE. For the IPCC, he served as lead author (AR4) and review editor (AR5). He is professor in chemical oceanography at the University of Bergen and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research.
